The Training and Placement Cell of Sir Issac Newton College of Pharmacy, Pappakovil, Nagapattinam, organized a highly impactful One-Day Awareness Programme titled “Quit Smoking Before Smoking Quits You” on March 21, 2025, at the Conference Hall of Sir Issac Newton Educational Institutions. The event, presided over by Dr. T. Ananth, Chairman, and inaugurated by Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Principal, aimed to educate students and faculty on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and its association with cancer. Eminent speakers including Dr. Saranya Sundarraj, Senior Psycho-oncologist, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and other distinguished guests such as Dr. G. Balamurugan, Dr. Veenavani Nallepalli, Dr. R. Gunasekaran, and Dr. Dhivyaraj Prabhakar provided valuable insights into psycho-oncology, behavioral interventions, and prevention strategies. Interactive sessions enabled participants to engage with experts and deepen their understanding of tobacco addiction and cessation methods. The programme received overwhelming positive feedback, strengthening the college’s commitment to health education and tobacco-free initiatives. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. J. Vinoth, Associate Professor, acknowledging the management, faculty, resource persons, and participants for their support and enthusiasm.
