Awareness Programme on “Kaaval Uthavi” Mobile Application for Women’s Safety

The Women’s Forum of Sir Issac Newton College of Pharmacy, Nagapattinam, successfully organized an Awareness Programme on the Kaaval Uthavi Mobile Application on 23.12.2025 at the Seminar Hall, SINCOP, aimed at creating awareness on women’s safety and emergency response mechanisms among students. The programme commenced with an introductory address outlining the objectives of the session and emphasizing the importance of the Kaaval Uthavi mobile application in ensuring the safety and security of women. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Principal, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of awareness, preparedness, and responsible utilization of emergency response systems. He emphasized the crucial role of technology-driven initiatives such as Kaaval Uthavi in safeguarding women and students in society. Dr. P. Abinaya delivered a detailed presentation on the features of the Kaaval Uthavi mobile application, explaining user registration, alert generation, location tracking, real-time emergency reporting, and the procedure to access the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS – 112) during emergencies. Mrs. M. Shalini elaborated on the role and functioning of the State Police Master Control Room (SPMCR) and provided practical insights into do’s and don’ts during emergency situations. She also shared essential safety tips for women, students, and the general public, stressing the importance of alertness and timely communication. A live demonstration of emergency reporting through the Kaaval Uthavi mobile application was conducted, enabling participants to clearly understand the step-by-step usage of the app. The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which students actively clarified their doubts regarding emergency response procedures, making the session informative, engaging, and impactful.
