Orientation Programme for First Year Pharm.D Students (2025–2026 Batch)

The Orientation Programme for the First Year Pharm.D students (2025–2026 Batch) was conducted from November 10 to 14, 2025, at Sir Issac Newton College of Pharmacy, Pappakovil, Nagapattinam. The programme began with an inaugural address by Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Principal, who introduced the students to General Pharmacy and the Pharm.D curriculum. This was followed by a motivational session by Prof. Dr. K. Suresh Kanna, Dean, which inspired students to begin their academic journey with confidence and commitment. Over the following days, students attended sessions on career opportunities, academic guidelines, examination systems, patient-centred care, and institutional values delivered by Dr. P. Abinaya, Prof. Dr. K. Elangovan, Dr. R. Prema, and Mrs. R. Vanitha Devi. They were also oriented to core departments such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry through lectures and laboratory visits guided by Mr. J. Vinoth, Ms. K. Gowsalya, Mrs. N. Shantha Sheela, Ms. A. S. Arisha Sri, and Ms. S. Aanandhi. A clinical exposure visit to Thiruvarur Medical College & Hospital provided valuable insight into real-time hospital practices. The programme concluded with sessions by Dr. R. Sabeetha and Dr. S. Vadivelan, who highlighted the role of pharmacology and natural compounds in pharmacy. The five-day orientation successfully familiarized students with the institutional environment, academic expectations, laboratory practices, and the professional scope of the Pharm.D programme, motivating them to embark confidently on their six-year journey toward becoming skilled healthcare professionals.
