World Breastfeeding Week 2026: Pharm.D Students Conduct Awareness Programme on Breastfeeding and Maternal–Child Health

Sir Issac Newton College of Pharmacy, Nagapattinam, observed World Breastfeeding Week 2026 by organizing an awareness programme on “Breastfeeding and Maternal–Child Health” on 06 August 2026 at the Pharm.D Lecture Hall. The programme was organized by the First Year Pharm.D students with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, maternal health and infant nutrition. As part of the programme, the students actively participated in speech and essay competitions based on breastfeeding awareness, common myths and evidence-based facts. P. Subhasri secured the First Prize in the Speech Competition, while T. Suhashini secured the Second Prize. In the Essay Competition, J. Sridevi secured the First Prize and B. Gnanadesigan secured the Second Prize. The competitions provided an opportunity for students to enhance their communication skills while promoting awareness about breastfeeding and maternal–child health. The institution sincerely thanks Dr. T. Ananth, Chairman; Dr. K. Elangovan, Registrar; Dr. R. Prema, Principal; Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, IQAC Coordinator; and Mr. J. Vinoth, Vice Principal, for their gracious presence, valuable guidance and encouragement. Their participation and distribution of prizes greatly motivated the students. The programme was successfully coordinated by the Pharm.D students under the guidance of Dr. K. Jayasri, Assistant Professor. The college congratulates all the winners and appreciates the enthusiastic participation of the students and faculty members in making the programme a meaningful initiative towards promoting awareness of breastfeeding and maternal–child health.
