Sir Issac Newton College of Pharmacy, Nagapattinam, successfully organized a One-Day Seminar on "Foundations of Pharmacy: Historical Milestones, Pharmacopoeias, Regulatory and Essential Analytical Tools" on 11th July 2026 at the Conference Hall, SINCOP. The seminar was conducted with the objective of strengthening the fundamental knowledge of pharmacy students by providing comprehensive insights into the historical development of the pharmacy profession, the importance of pharmacopoeias, pharmaceutical regulatory systems, and essential analytical tools used in drug development and quality assurance. The programme was presided over by Dr. T. Ananth, MBA., Ph.D., Chairman, Sir Issac Newton Educational Institutions, Nagapattinam. The felicitation addresses were delivered by Mr. T. Maheswaran, B.Sc., DHMCT., Secretary, SINEI, Mr. T. Shankar, M.Sc., Director, SINEI, and Dr. K. Elangovan, M.E., Ph.D., Registrar, SINEI, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the academic foundation and professional competence of future pharmacists. The seminar featured an enlightening technical session by Dr. V. Saravanakumar, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Senior Technical Officer (1), CSIR–Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi. He delivered an informative presentation on the evolution of pharmacy, the role of official pharmacopoeias in ensuring drug quality, current pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, and the application of essential analytical techniques in pharmaceutical research and industry. His interactive session provided students with valuable practical insights and encouraged them to explore emerging opportunities in pharmaceutical sciences. The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, and academic professionals. The programme served as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, industry-academia interaction, and professional development, enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of the scientific and regulatory aspects of pharmacy.
